10/22/76 - Two friends, and recent
Duke graduates, start a new
moving company to create price competition in the
regulated moving industry. They name the new company
"Truckin' Movers."
8/13/82 - Truckin' Movers defeats
the legal departments of three national van lines
and becomes the first nationwide moving service
authorized by the federal government (Interstate
Commerce Commission) to offer
competitive rates.
4/1/83 - Truckin' Movers became a
North Carolina corporation
10/1/83 - Truckin Movers purchases
Durham Transfer and Storage and moves into their
warehouse and office facility on Harvest St. in
Durham
4/1/84 - Truckin' Movers pioneers
fully containerized interstate moving
1/15/86 - Truckin' Movers invents
the FreightPak®. A
lightweight disposable shipping container, and
begins offering guaranteed delivery dates for
interstate moves of any size.
3/15/90
- Software development begins on a program for
listing all items to be moved. The development name
for the program is "ListTaker."
5/20/95
- Truckin' Movers invents a computer carrying case
that converts into a portable work platform. With
PowerCase® the estimator is able to enter
information into the ListTaker software as they walk
through a household or commercial location.
10/21/96
- Work begins on our move planning
product, Move It®
6/17/97
- Truckin' Movers is awarded a patent on PowerCase®
6/9/98
- Truckin' Movers is awarded a second patent on
PowerCase®
